I agree.'K Hljr Wl jpa#a EVERY MORNING AND SUNDAY EL PASO,TEXAS DORRANCE D. RODERICK September 12, 1957 Mr, A1 Freeman The Sands Highway 91 Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Mr. Freeman: I just received your letter of September 10th with your proposal for our participation in a search for the sixteen prettiest girls in Texas, and it sounds interesting. I discussed your proposal with several of our executives, and they agree with me that there are a lot of possibilities for good promotion. I want to be sure that at least one of the ten girls selectedby the ~fimes will bie~among the sixteen from Texas and. will Jbe, given a six weeks. contract at*~$150.Q0 per week plus transportation. While I am sure several of the girls we would present would be acceptable, I do want it understood that at least one of them will be among the Texas group. As you may know, the Times circulates widely in southern New Mexico, much more so than any New Mexico newspaper, and it might present a problem if we were to restrict the entrants to Texas girls. If we left the matter open to all girls in our trade area, I think it would be easy enough to classify the winner as the El Paso entrant. If we go in on this deal, we would like to do it right and suggest having Mr. Entratter make his final selection over our TV affiliate, KROD, Channel 4,. This would give us an addit- ional appeal by putting the finalists on television. Could that be arranged? If we understand it, our participation would con- sist only of promoting the project, selecting the ten most beautiful girls and have them ready for Mr. Entratter1s final judging. Then, of course, we would be interested in carrying more stories and pictures furnished by you. On a thinfe of this kind, it might be helpful if you would send the participating RADIO STATION KROD?╟÷600 KC ?╟≤ TELEVISION STATION KROD-TV?╟÷CHANNEL 4
