Biographical / Historical Note

Judy Bayley moved to Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband Warren "Doc" Bayley in 1956. Doc Bayley opened the Hacienda Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada later that year as part of his Hacienda Hotel chain that began in California. When he died in 1964, Judy Bayley took over the company and became chairwoman of Casino Operations, Inc.

During her time in Las Vegas, Bayley became active in several community organizations, including the Order of the Eastern Star and the Variety Club. She was honored by the Nevada Heart Association, the March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Association for her charity work. She also donated $65,000 to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for the construction of the Judy Bayley Theatre, which opened in 1972.
