957 Sheridan Ypsilanti , Michigan March 31, 1969 The Sands Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada Dear Gentlemen: I am writing to you with the hopes that you will help us in making a project of ours become very worthwhile and successful. Let me begin by saying that I am a student at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. I am a member of the nationally known fraternity Sigma Alpha Mu. Our fraternity is in the planning stages for a fund- raising event which we have called Las Vegas Night, The way in which this benefit will work is that for the price of $2.00 people will be allowed to enter the Union Ballroom which will be set up like one of your famous Casinos1 Each paying participant will be given a set amount of fake money to begin with. The money won by individuals can then be used to purchase gifts?╟≤ All proceeds will then go to the City of Hope. But only with your great help and effort will Las Vegas Night be a success. We would be greatly appreciative if you could send us in the biggest quantity that you can afford: matches, dice, playing cards, ash trays, cocktail napkins and stirrers, posters, and possibly souveneir game boards. With the side effects of these different objects it would certainly add a great deal more effect to the theme of the evening. Along with these aids it would also be very helpful if you could send us again in as large a quantity as possible the pamphlets explaining the rules for different types of gambler's games. As a support to our benefit we will be publishing a souveneir program which we will be supplementing with advertisements. We would give you a full-page advertisement and we would send your name to the Gity of Hope as a benefactor to our event. In return we will send you a souveneir book and anything left over which $ou so graciously donated (We Hope)!! As I pointed out before the evening tends to provide a tremendous amount of pleasure and money collected will be given to a very wothwhile organization. The planned date will be May 9, 1969 so if you will be able to provide us with the necessary materials it would be most appreciated if it could b?· in the mail by April 20. If you feel that there might be anything else necessary to know again we would be grate ful for your assistance. If you feel that you would be unable to comply with our hopes could you send us a letter stating so. This is going to be the first event of its kind on our campus and we are hoping that it will be an overwhelming success. I can only conclude by saying that myself and all my fcrcrfeiitlfs canft think of where to begin in thanking you for you help. Sincerely yours M&ck Leach - Recorder Sfete Weiss - Chairman
