I agree.June 30, 1969 Dear Carl: My warm thanks to you for joining our Honorary Committee for this year's "Men of the Iear,f - Bert and Burt Bacharach. It couldn't happen to two nicer guys. You'll be pleased to learn that plans for what should be a block-buster dinner party got off to a splendid start at Wednesday's meeting in Toot Shor's. Many members of our Committee pledged ads for the souvenir journal and more than twenty-three tables were reserved. Date and place have now been set: Sunday, November 30, in the Grand Ballroom of the New York Hilton. As for the program, - well, the "Man of the Year" has become known as the "no-speech" event where everybody who is anybody comes to be entertained by a spectacular dais-ful of talent. This year's show, I can safely promise you, will be even more enjoyable than its predecessors. As you know, the evening benefits a wonderful cause - the March of Dimes, now seeking a cure for birth defects, which afflict more than 2,500,000 children each year. So, do join us in honoring the "Men of the Year," and to ensure a choice table please return the enclosed reservation form to us at your earliest convenience. Should you wish to extend your congratulations to Bert and Burt Bacharach in a personal, lasting way, you may wish to take an ad in our dinner program, which is always a beautiful, imaginative journal - a real conversation piece. A form for this purpose is also enclosed. A number of our Committee members have volunteered to write to friends or to others in their industries or profession (list attached), and should you want to either join one of these industry groups, or form your own group, or contact your personal friends, we'll be glad to do all the work. All you have to do is call Committee Headquarters (CO 5-7460), and we're at your servj t^~ Earl Wilson
