national retail hardware association ,Mr. A1 Freeman 2/17/58 As a follow tip we always present the winners of the vacation trip prizes at our National Congress, which this year will be Held in Chicago with an audience of about 1,000, and develop a printed report of the whole Hardware Week activity including the prize winners, which is circulated to 1+0,000 dealers and their salesmen, wholesalers, manufacturers and their salesmen. All mailings between this time and Hardware Week, both to wholesalers and to our 23,000 member stores, will mention the Las Vegas awards. We will prepare and release newspaper publicity at the time of Hardware Week, from coast to coast, and the trips to Las Vegas will be included in our publicity. This activity as outlined above is already scheduled and will be carried out. Other opportunities to publicize the Sands Hotel ?╟╓and the vacation trips, etc., will occur between now and the time of the announcement of the award winners. These will be exploited to the best of our ability. I think this is about the same line up ??f printed publicity, mailings and promotion activity that I have outlined to you previously when we have tied-in with you on our prize awards, and I believe we have delivered faithfully in the past all the things we have promised, and certainly would intend to do so again this year. I am having our agency develop a blow up of our Handy Helpful Hardwareman and 1 will send it to you. Perhaps you can take a publicity shot or two with one of your chorus girls. We can use this as a publicity attachment to our news releases and bulletins to state associations. I am including some other Hardware Week printed material so you will have an opportunity of seeing how our program is going.
