By Law Change At the May membership IuncWfen am-, mendments were made to two Articles of The Chamber By-Laws. The Articles and their amendments are fisted bejow. ARTICLE XI, Section 5 presently provides for the fiscal year: "Prior to the beginning of each fiscal year, which shall be the calendar year, the Managing Director shall prepare a budget of anticipated revenues and expenses which he shall submit to the Board of Directors for revision and approval. At least once each quarter the Managing Director shall report budget balances to the Board of Directors." Change to provide for the new fiscal year is the added underlined part below: Section 5 ?╟÷ "Prior to the beginning of each fiscal year, the Managing Director shall prepare a budget of anticipated revenues and expenses which he shall submit to the Board of Directors for revision and approval. The fiscal year shall begin on the first day of July and end on the last day of June each year. At least once each quarter the Managing Director shall report budget balances to the Board of Directors." ARTICLE V - Government SECTION 1 - The Government of the Chamber, the direction of its work, and the control of its property shall be vested in its Board of Directors consisting of fifteen (15) members, fourteen (14) of whom shall be elected as hereinafter provided and the fifteenth member shall be the then President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce." Change as follows.- ARTICLE V, Section 1: "The Government of the Chamber, the direction of its work, and the control of its property shall be vested in its Board of Directors consisting of seven- teen (17) members, fourteen (t4y^i whom shall be elected as hereinafter provided. The fifteenth member shall be the then President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce. The sixteenth member shall be the then President of the Merchants Bureau of the Cham- ber. The seventeenth member shall be the immediate outgoing President of the Chamber whose term shall be for one year, provided he is not an elected director in which event the Board of Directors shall consist of~(16) sixteen directors." Rotarian "4-Way Test11 Being Studied Here The Merchants Bureau of the Chamber of Commerce is examining the Rotarian "4-Way Test" for its possible application here in Las Vegas. Many cities throughout the nation have adopted the test as a creed to live by, notably Daytona Beech, Florida. An article in Readers Digest on the Daytona adaption brought it to the attention of Henry Bridgman, Chamber vice president. Brigdman and Don Ber- linger, Merchants Bureau manager have secured the co-operation of Julian Moore, president of the Las Vegas Rotary Club and presently all three men are working out the details of the program. Here is the Rotarian Plan as outlined by the group: In everything you think, say or do - Consider: 1. Is it the truth? 2. Is it fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build goodwill and better friendship? 4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned? OPEN HOUSE - The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce using the Code Name OPERATION GLV (Greater Us Vegas) held an open house program June 9-14. The open house, which received fine publicity support from all Las Vegas news media, served to inform the membership and the community of the important role the Chamber of Commerce plays in building and promoting a Greater Las Vegas, The Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce is proud to present this list of new members who have demonstrated their faith in our Program. As new members of the Chamber of Commerce they will be an active force which will build a Greater Las Vegas.
