    MINUTES OF THE PROMOTION COMMITTEE MEETING, Nov. 7, 1962 Present: Harvey Diederich, chairman, Nat Kahn, Lloyd St* John, Rick Williams, John Romero, Bud Albright, Jim White, Walt Wehner, Hank Kovell, Ray Culley, Bob McKay, Gene Lester and Jim Deitch. 1. Introduction of Nat Kahn, public relations director of the new Tallyho Hotel, and Gene Lester, noted photographer who intends to do future work in the Las Vegas area. 2. Outline of the forthcoming TWA "Quickie Vacation1* tour by Ray Culley and Bob McKay of TWA. The group of approximately 60 newsmen will arrive in Las Vegas Wed., Jan. 9, 1963 and leave mid-day on the 11th. They will arrive in several flights Wednesday, with the latest approximately 7 p.m. Tentative plans worked out at the meeting include: Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: First and second shows at hotels. Luncheon at Strip hotel to be drawn from hat at News Bureau. Purpose of this will be a presentation on Las Vegas, including showing of new film and brief program prepared by News Bureau. First and second shows in evening. Departure approximately 1 p.m. Other activities which are being explored for addition to the event include a cocktail party at the Convention Center Thursday afternoon, a tour of Hoover Dam and excursion ride on Lake Mead, a helicopter tour of new construction in the resort area and an appropriate ceremony at the new airport terminal. Jim Deitch was instructed by the chairman to send copies to hotel publicists of two requests for cooperation forwarded by Eugene Murphy. One concerns a proposed live television show emanating from Las Vegas, the other the Milwaukee Sentinal Sports-Boat-Vacation Show. Copies are attached. Lee Fisher and Jack Pepper reported on a recent meeting to consider means of securing promotional funds from the legislature in cooperation with the Board of Economic Development. (Minutes of the meeting of Oct. 23 at the Dunes have already been sent you by Lee.) Bud Albright was called upon to explain his proposal for such a program, with the more
