FREEMAN COMPANY pubficists ' 10/3 Jack SITREP on the BAKERSFIELD PROJECT: GENERAL IDEA: i The Sands would work to fill a charter DC3 airplane operated by Henry Price, who now does the Thunderbird excursions, out of Bakersfield, each Friday. Plane has 28 seats, and Price would charge the Sands for only those seats left unfilled for the flight, at a set rate of $36.85 for the round trip. If plane is completely filled, there would be no charge to Sands. Sands would work to fill the seats, using a travel agent in Bakersfield as reservation office. Price would fly people to Las Vegas, provide Tanner Bus transportation from airport to Sands upon arrival, provide Tanner Bus for transportation back to airport, and would then fly the people back to Bakersfield. Tenatively, flight would leave Bakersfield on Friday, airborne by 3 PM, arriving Las Vegas about 4:30 PM. Plane would return people to Bakersfield on Sunday either at 2 PM, or at 9 PM, whichever time is de- cided upon by us. Plane is standard DC3, has pilot, co-pilot, and one stewardess. No food is served aboard, but there is excellent galley where sandwiches and beverages can be prepared, at Sands expense. PUBLIC INSURANCE: Price carries $500,000 liability insurance on plane, plus $50,000 personal liability per seat, plus a $1,000,000 third party policy, which would involve the Sands in coverage, but not in premiums. COST BREAKDOWN: Price figures each seat at $36,85, out of which he pays $3.35 Federal tax, and $3.00 commission to travel agent handling the ticket and reservation details. Sands would be billed $36.85 for each empty seat. FLIGHT PLAN: Plane cannot fly over restricted gunnery ranges, so will travel BAKERSFIELD?╟÷LAB EC?╟÷PALMDALE?╟÷DAGGETT?╟÷ GOODSPRINGS ?╟÷ LAS VEGAS.
