The Joseph LaMar Foremaster Photograph Collection includes black-and-white photographic prints and negatives of structures at the Old Ranch (Stewart Ranch) in Las Vegas, Nevada from approximately 1920 to 1939 when the Foremaster family lived and worked on the land.

The Joseph Lamar Foremaster Photograph Collection includes black-and-white photographic prints and negatives of structures at the Old Ranch (Stewart Ranch) in Las Vegas, Nevada from approximately 1920 to 1939 when the Foremaster family lived and worked on the land. The photographs are of the farm house and adobe building at the Old Ranch, showcasing life and architecture in early Las Vegas. The structures shown in these photographs were located on the land near the Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort and the location of Anderson Dairy is as of 2019.

Biographical / Historical Note
Joseph LaMar Foremaster (1907-2000) a well-known businessman in Las Vegas, Nevada, was influential in the growth and development of the city. In 1923 the Foremaster family moved to Las Vegas from Alamo, Nevada to take over the lease at the “Old Ranch” (also known as the Doolittle Ranch and Stewart Ranch) from the Doolittle family, who previously leased the land from the Union Pacific Railroad through representative Walter Bracken in approximately 1918. From approximately 1923 to 1931, Joseph LaMar's father, Joseph Frederick Foremaster, and his sons ran the daily operations of the then-named Las Vegas Dairy. In the mid-1930s Anderson Dairy took ownership of the dairy, and eventually Joseph LaMar Foremaster became the manager and superintendent of Anderson Dairy. Joseph LaMar Foremaster died May 11, 2000.
