Who?╟╓s Who In America EDITORIAL OFFICES MARQUIS PUBLICATIONS BUILDING CHICAGO-11 ILLINOIS USA October 1, 1963 Dear Mr. Entratter: It Is my pleasure to inform you that the Editorial Board of WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA has selected your name for inclusion in the new Thirty-Third Biennial Edition, now in compilation. I therefore enclose a data-blank convenient for transmitting the usual biographical information to the editors. On having your cooperation in returning it, filled in, they will for their part send a manuscript of the biography-in-brief prepared from it to afford you an opportunity for pre-publication checking at firsthand. The compilation of WHO'S WHO is now continuous, selections being based, not only on over six decades of specialization in gauging American reference interest in men ad women of meritorious achieve- ment, but as well on individual files of news items and similar data. This procedure has been set up in response to urging of news and radio/TV services, libraries, newspapers, and inividual ref- erence users. The enclosed announcement gives the important purposes served by continuous compilation, and the leaflet "Selecting Biograohees for WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA" sets forth the general bases on which the decision for inclusion in WHO'S WHO rests. I am confident you will find both sufficiently worthwhile to justify your co-op- erating with our editors in making your listing accurate. In informing you of these details I am, in effect, acting in re- sponse to American reference interest. Since that interest is one which Americans who become subject to it have always considered a healthy aspect of democracy, I do not hesitate to ask your co-op- eration in providing the requested data. The unique position WHO'S WHO holds results entirely from the fact that it has, ever since its establishment, put this characteristic American biographical reference interest first ?╟÷- |ievw|i_has<i<a listing in it involved any obligation on the part of the selected biographeej and no woman, no man, has ever been listed in it ex- cept after individual notification such as this.
