WHO?╟╓S WHO IN AMERICA PUBLISHED BY MARQUIS?╟÷WHO?╟╓S WHO, INC. (The A. N. Marquis Co.) MARQUIS PUBLICATIONS BLDG., 210 East Ohio St., Chicago-11 USA 1897 ?╟÷ Our Seventh Decade - 1962 Dear Marquis Biographee: The manuscript of the listing of you to be published hereafter in WHO*S WHO IN AMERICA is enclosed, arranged as compilers* copy. It will appear in the Thirty-Third Edition of this standard bi- ographical dictionary, in use throughout the world since 1898. The Editors have prepared this manuscript from the data you helpfully made avail- able to them, of which cooperation they are most appreciative. 3)c H* The purpose in now sending you this compilers* copy of your listing is to enable you not only to have desired changes indicated on it, but any errors of fact corrected. For the next step will be to send it directly to the files from which the new edition of WHO*S WHO is being compiled . . . and, additionally, to provide the Editors with assurance - an assurance certainly mutually advantageous to you and to them - that these personal data have been checked at first hand. To that end space is provided on the right-hand margin of the sheet for either your signature or an au- thorized one. As close alphabetization is essential during the continuous compilation of WHO*S WHO, each scheduled sketch must necessarily be in hand before the listings are collated. Return of the enclosed compilers* copy as promptly as practicable will therefore be greatly appreciated, whether or not changes or corrections are indicated - a convenient no-postage-required self-addressed envelope is enclosed. * * * On the reverse side of the copy sheet there are notations which have been found useful when checking permanent WHO*S WHO sketches for the first time, and . . . in this connection I should also call to your attention the fact that, as a WHO*S WHO biographee, you become entitled, under a long-standing Marquis practice, to, in advance of the publication of an edition, subscription preferentials even greater than those for many years extended by us to libraries and other institutional reference users. Advance of publication orders make possible certain production economies when initial print runs are as large as those the important reference demand for WHO*S WHO creates, and it has been one of our customs to share these savings
