VEGAS VISITOR Las Vegas, Nevada Review-Journal (Circ. D. 45,065 S. 47,424) JUN 2 1968 ^Men?╟╓s P.C.B, E^tMsH Forrest Duke .?╟úThe Visiting Fireman?╟Ñ_ New Stardust Lido Less of Blockbuster? Our man Bill Willard takes a look at the new Lido show/ and the VF agrees with his observations: The eighth edition of Le Lido de Paris, ?╟úTout Paris,?╟Ñ is, in some respects, less of a blockbuster than previous revues, although the comparative values will make little or no difference in attracting peak crowds for the year-plus run. The Lido shows ait the,Stardust have always been bop magnets over the years with their lavish display of flesh'in and out of extravagant costumes, plus the use of special effects that reveal swimming pools; ice rink, fountains, fireworks and always the featured ?╟úcatas- trophe?╟Ñ Miiich has employed floods, fires, volcanic erup- tions, , earthquakes and almost every other kind of des- tructive force for breathtaking impact. Another factor which has brought tourists back time and time again is the gleaming of top continental talent or offbeat acts essentially grooved for such showcasing as director Do^Arden has structured within thyiido cum Stardust-fortnat. ?╟úThe Nitwits?╟Ñ from England are such an attraction. The ten zany musical weirdos, led by Sid Millard have returned to head the ?╟╓68 opus and word is sure to get around fast that the fave act of . editions past is back, funnier than ever. ALTHOUGH most ribtfckling effects are obtained mstmndrafcally, one of the excruciating highlights is the vocal chprus, ?╟úLily of Laguna,?╟Ñ in which diminutive clown, Charles Rossi, makes most tablers limp from laughter during his panto antics. ..Credit also thf ex- pressive, rangy Negro, Cyril Lagey, for some outlandish mugging and falsetto warbling, Walter Stewart for per- fect* timing, Chriss Fox, Ronnie Genarder, Arthur Cal- kin, Sid flood, Brian Firth and Toni Traiversi for con- tributing multi-talents to the inspired madness. The Rebente is a quartet of gymnasts whose flips and tumbles in solo, or group, hear the mark of expert hse. Theirs is a sleek presentation that contains romp- d$?
