Another accomplishment never attempted before in nightclubs was the presentation by Entratter of a different star each night to celebrate the First Anniversary of the Sands, instead jps. of a single star for the entire week. h f/~s\ In the stiff competition of Las Vegas, this in itself was almost a miracle, getting Frank Sinatra - Danny Thomas - Billy Eckstine - Vic Damone - Bttmmy McHugh - Billy Gray - Patty Moore and Ben Lessy - Dean Martin - and Sammy Davis, Jr, to each perform one night of the celebration. Danny Thomas was signed by Jack Entratter to open the Sands in December 1952 - but also invited to attend were stars like Jimmy Durante, the Ritz Brothers, Jane Powell, Ray Anthony, Frankie Lalne, Denise Darcel, Ursula Theiss, Terry Moore. The booking scoop of the decade fell to Entratter's planning and ability when he signed Dest Arnaz and Lucille Ball and their entire TV program "I Love Lucy" for a nightclub engagement at the Sands, before their split. Mr. Entratter Is responsible for the fame of the Copa Girl, just as Ziegfeld popularized the "Ziegfeld Girl" - and has sent more than 75 girls on to Hollywood for contracts and screen work.
