wFreeman COMPANY RUBLIC RELATIONS 3/17 For LES BETORE - Hollywood Reporter Jack Entratter has really come up with the finest show seen on the Strip in many a month, in his Sands* Copa Room Production starring Marguerite Piazza. In a well balanced, amazingly swift?╜:raoving, 62 minute floor show, Entratter has combined the dignified and imaginative offerings of Miss Piazza with a brilliant new comedy team from the Eastern nightclub circuit, Tony "ddie, interspersed with two clean-cut brilliant production numbers - and the whole panorama left Copa Room spectators gasping about how marvelous the show was, as they left on opening night. Entratter, long and lone an advocate for "something new" in nightclub acts has really come up with a winner in Miss Piazza - this talented show- woman bore out Entratter*s predictions to the hilt, running the gamut from operatic airs, like "Nen Belle Die" from Madame Butterfly, to low-down Dixie land jazz music, wherein she pulls out five members of the Sands orchestra to back her up, attired in typical jazz musician outfits. The use of dancer, Jack Bunch, to augment and illustrate Miss Piazza, is a clever and imaginative stroke, and Bunch does a tremendous job of selling 3S Piazza*s act, staged by Herb Ross. John Calli backs the lovely and hard working singer up on the banjo and guitar to great advantage. Marguerite's change of clothing right on stage in a clever gimmick that remains in good taste at all times, is one of the new ideas in show business that is so desperately needed today to improve its standards. A word here just must be said about the Sands orchestra under Anthony Morelli - although it was easy to see why they were so cooperative and so great in backing Miss Piazza up, because of her lovable manner with the people she worked with. The music was excellent - the execution of it was magnificent. BEVERLY HILLS, CAL. ?╟≤ 449 SOUTH BEVERLY DRIVE ?╟≤ CRESTVIEW 6-4326
