.The Toledo Times, Thursday, November 6, 1969?╟÷ ?√ß?√ßv.v.v..v...v.:o:...^^MMna-. 1 . . - ^^ ^ , x, , Holiday On Ice Delights In Its Silver Anniversary By PERRY GRAY From overture to grand finale, the Holiday On Ice show at the Sports Arena is a thoroughly delightful extravaganza of sound, color, and marvelous skating. The ice production's silver anniversary theme is carried masterfully throughout the performance by the lavish costumes and flashing skates, and the entire show leaves one with the desire to join in the celebration. Featuring former Olympic star Ronnie Robertson, backed by a expert troupe of skaters, the show is fast-moving and offers an international sampling of costumes, settings and music. Clowns Are Riotous Female star Grete Borgen will not be seen in the Toledo performances which run through next Wednesday night, but her vacancy is compensated for well by Sonia Hashleanas, Linda Adams, and Allyson Brooks in three large production numbers. Clowns Paul Andre and Johnny Leech are riotous in a spoof on the Marc Anthony^Cleopatra tale and as Colonel Sanders (of! fried chicken fame) and Grand j Ole Opry star Minnie Pearl. Children, as well as their par-i ents, have something in store j for them in trained animal acts utilizing the Holiday Chimps trained by Werner and Denisei Muller and Kossmayer's Mules,! in a comedy skit with a real switch. Ray Balmer is featured in several numbers, and was warmly applauded along with the skating duo of Tommy Allen and Juanita Percelly. Show Moves Quickly Alice Quessy, a fiery redhead, was a real show stopper in her Fourth of July arrangement. The show is more than 2Vz hours long?╟÷ including intermission?╟÷but moves quickly from number to number. The orchestra is quite good under the direction of Ben Stabler, and the lighting effects were always striking. A real treat was the Holiday In Rio routine, which used fluorescent lighting at its conclusion. All in all, the silver anniversary of Holiday On Ice in Toledo is a night to remember?╟÷ for the whole family.
