AU those healthy, charm ing young people with Holiday On Ice. They're glad to be here, too; tanne&^nd rested from a month's vacation at their own scattered homes across the nation. Alice Quessy won't be in until next week, and husband Joe LeMac says vacation time was less than pleasant for the lovely skating star. Alice spent most of it in a Florida hospital trying to cleat up an attack of bursitis. She'll have her old dancing partner, Ray Balmer, back this rear. Alfredo Mendoza will also be in next week, ready for a new All the chorus lads and lovelies and most of the stars were around lor Monday's photography session. Roxanne Maxeyy the long-stemmed beauty from Phoenix, Ariz., looked more [stunning than ever in her costume for "the Rio number"?╟÷-all; shocking pink-and-white and swirly around bare midriff and under flying-saucer hat. Costumes are, as usual, by the unbeatable Freddie Wittop, who apparently dreams them up under some secret outer-world influence. But for the first time, this year his costume designs were put together in HOI's own New York shop; no more chasing to Paris or wherever for 1 last-minute touches. Scenery, as before, is being I constructed almost entirely by Knoxville Scenic Studio onj Maryville Pike. John Finley, whose title this I year is changed to vice president and production director (producer will do, he says), reports that the 1970 production, I since it marks HOI's 25th anniversary, will be based around anniversaires and holidays, both traditional and calendar. Qonn Ardeji, since his first directorial1 job for HOI last year, has done a show for the Lido in Paris and two for the I.as Vegas night spots. His latest. Vegas opening is scheduled for Wednesday, alter which he will be here to direct rehearsals for the big Fourth of July, Valentine Day, Roman Holiday, Christmas and New Year's and [other spectacular numbers. Speaking of t lie Christmas number, those attending, will b?Θ╝ pleased when they see the Christinas tree dresses for chorus skaters?╟÷all frosted and lit n\) and gala as the season. Kossmayer's mules also are back alter a European tour. Paul Andre is here, with that trick automobile rigged for new surprises. Ronnie Robertson has also made his entrance, this time with a luxurious motor home instead of last year's luxurious trailer. I And the Collinses: Tommy,! i show manager, and wifeJaniel (Morris) brought along a new son, four-montlvold Mark, as company lor 21 -month-old Mike, who was last year's infant marvel; and Butch, brother and assistant to Tommy, announced that he and his wile (of two years) are expecting a child in early October. Tommy Allen and wife, Juani ta Pei\ e11y, will be in soon with the daughter born just before last year's rehearsals began. Anyway, whatever the weather, Knoxville's scenic attractions are looking up with the I arriv a I i A I \ 01 world t rav e 1 e rs.
