(6) * With close to 200 young people working backstage, romance is bound to happen. After eight and one-half years, there have been 86 marriages involving members of the Cast & Crew. To our knowledge, there have also been ....61 Births CUE CALLER & CUES "Two minutes til show", this is normally the voice of the Cue Caller, George Messinger. Located in the Light Booth high above the Audience, the Cue Caller is responsible for setting the timing of the Show. He calls the majority of the Cues for the Button Booth and Fly Rail and is constantly looking for defects. He is the Show's "eye in the sky"! * The Cue Caller is the major communicator of the Show. Using a telephone, intercom, and two-way radio, he has to communicate with the Stage, Bandroom, Sound Console, Fly Rail, Button Booth, Lower Ziegfeld, and the Dressing Rooms. * Each Show, the Cue Caller calls ...154 Cues, mostly to the Fly Rail and Button Booth. The entire backstage crew perform a grand total of 4,471 different Cues that are suppose to be carried out each Show. The breakdown of Cues are as follows: Light Booth 825, Wardrobe 726, Stage Right 582, Button Booth 459, Stage Left 378, Fly Rail 320, Sound Department 283, Lower Ziegfeld 275, Props 260, Deck Electrics 162, Cue Caller 154, and the Forklift Driver has 47. DECK ELECTRICS Rich Norris is the Electrical Supervisor and heads the Deck Electrics crew. This crew plays a very important role as they are responsible for just about everything mechanical in the backstage area. Their areas of responsibility include the Elevators, the Rain Doors, limit switches on moving Curtains, Circus Wagons, and everything else electrical. In addition to providing electrical power to numerous pieces of scenery during the Show, the crew also operates the Rear Projector and provides "Fog" when needed. They're constantly providing maintenance to keep everything in working condition. A big job on the "World's Largest Stage". * The "fog" used in the Show is created by a special fogger built especially for the Show. The (6) "foggers" used in the Show create "Fog" by lowering crushed dry ice into hot water, thus creating the "fog". In 6,000 Shows, the crew has crushed and used enough dry ice that if the 55 lb. blocks were laid end to end, they would extend almost 17 miles. * The Airplane was built by the stage crew in Las Vegas with Boeing acting as consultants to the designers and crew. It consists of the design of (3) different planes and has been reduced in length to fit in the upstage area of the stage.
