MARTIN ROSS Biography 1970 M3W YORK MARTIN ROSS was born in New York City and, after attending high school in Teaneck, New Jersey, began to study for a career as a Doctor. After three years he realized that he preferred the lights on stage to those in an operating room and took his first theatrical job .a.? a member of the chorus in a summer stock production of "Showboat". The switch in careers is not so surprising when you know that his Father has been a "hoofer" in Vaudeville and his Mother, Helen Ross, had been an actress and comedienne in Vaudeville and had worked with the Federal Theatre Project In fact, she left a show at the Blltmore Theatre in New York just 2 months before Martin was born and retired to raise her sons. That chorus job in "Showboat" was Martin's first and last. He went into a season of stock playing feature roles and .leading roles soon fol1 owed.
