May 22, 1981 Mr. Donn Arden % MGM Grand Hotel 3645 Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109 Dear Donn: The Board of Directors realized that, if we are to expect your interest and participation as an Advisory Board Member in the affairs and activities of the Gypsies, the very least we can do is to keep you informed of what is happening with Professional Dancers Society. This is the first of what will be a regular memo to you, that will advise you of both immediate and projected plans and special events that might interest you and spark your participation and support. As you know, our primary aim is the establishment of a GYPSY MANOR, for dancers in their years of retirement. Along those lines we've begun negotiations with Governmental Agencies and Private Foundations seeking grants and subsidies to help accomplish our mission. One of the avenues we have handled easily to aid our finances has been modest fund raisers. Wefve had very special, fascinating theatre showings of rare dance film clips, a One Woman Show, a Gala Ballet Performance, and even our yearly Gypsy Picnic, which is a must for members of the entertainment Industry. All have increased our membership. We have another aim, namely the encouragement and guidance of the young dancers who have begun their careers. We have been most successful in that area. We granted 53 Scholarships this past year. There is no organization in this country who can match that record. True, some of our members are considered the finest teachers of the Dance in this country. They have donated their services, and their facilities to help fulfill our goal.
