IT?╟╓S THE LONGEST-RUNNING SHOW in Las Vegas; you could call it ?╟úThe Mousetrap?╟Ñ of production shows. It?╟╓s$| the ?╟úFolies Bergere?╟Ñ at the Tropicana, where it has been thrilling , audiences since 1959. Actually, it all started in 1869. From the moment the show opened in its own theater in Paris, the ?╟úFolies Bergere?╟Ñ was the ?╟úin?╟Ñ place for Europe?╟╓s elite. Every- one wanted to see and be seen at the ?╟úFolies.?╟Ñ So much so, the show?╟╓s guest lists read like a Who?╟╓s Who. The same could be said for some of the entertainers who were featured in the show. Up-and-coming performers like Maurice Chevalier, Charlie Chaplin, Will Rogers and Josephine Baker all sang and danced under the glamorous lights of the Paris ?╟úFolies,?╟Ñ establishing a tradition that continues today at the Tropicana. Bobbie Gentry, Claudine Longet, Siegfried & Roy and Lance Burton have all appeared in the ?╟úFolies Bergere?╟Ñfe j Las Vegas, and now the internationally renowned silent comedy-juggling-magic team of Charlie Frye & Company is the featured act in the latest edition of the hit production titled ?╟úThe Best of the Folies much more in the production than they would in other shows. The latest edition of the ?╟úFolies?╟Ñ lives up to its name ?╟úThe Best of the Folies Bergere... Sexier Than Ever.?╟Ñ Jackson has put together a dazzling show that brings the glamour and excitement of Paris and show business back to Las Vegas. Plan to see the fabulous ?╟úFolies?╟Ñ at the Tropicana, and you?╟╓ll see why it is the longest-running show in Las Vegas. Bergere ... Sexier Than Ever.?╟╓?╜ Award-winning ?╟úFolies?╟Ñ director Jerry Jackson has been associated with the Tropicana?╟╓s ?╟úFolies Bergere?╟Ñ and the ?╟úFolies?╟Ñ in Paris. He choreographed the latter?╟╓s 100th anniversary and, in 1975, became the show?╟╓s director in Las Vegas. ?╟úIt was a ground for new talent,?╟Ñ Jack- son said of the original ?╟úFolies.?╟Ñ ?╟úI would like to do that. I would like to present new talent in the show MM In addition to his responsibility as director, Jackson handles almost every aspect of the Tropicana?╟╓s ?╟úFolies Berg- ere.?╟Ñ He is credited as being the creator, choreographer and costume designer, and he also wrote and helped to produce some of the gorgeous music in the show. Jackson is known in the business for selecting the finest performers and giving them the best to work with. He recognizes that many of the cast members are multi- talented. For example, most of the show- girls are highly trained dancers, so Jack- son gives them the opportunity to do 'Best of the Folses Bergere"9 Inhere?½ Tropicana Wheh*m^^ Information ?╟≤ 739-2411 52 December 14, 1997/SHOWBIZ
