f??V ?╟≤Fi??. AMAZING FACTS AND FIGURES BOUT THE FOLIES BERGERE! t v '-?╟≤41 ,?╟≤..*.?., l ?╟≤ Over 85 million people have seen the "Folies Bergere" since its initial opening in Paris in 1869. It is the longest running French revue in the world, and the Folies Bergere theatre became the world's first professional Music Pall. ?╟≤ It was the Folies Bergere in 1918 that introduced on stage the first topless showgirl. ?╟≤ The cast and crew of the "Folies Bergere" today consists of over 105 people. There are 14 male dancers, 6 nude female dancers, 6 dressed female dancers, 6 acro-female dancers, 12 showgirls, 2 male singers, 2 female singers and 2 adagio dancers in the all new "FOLIES BERGERE". The crew consists of 20 stagehands, 18 wardrobe assistants, and 14 orchestra members. The specialty acts include an additional 4-6 people, depending on the acts. ?╟≤ There are 110 separate costume designs and a total of 4,000 costume pieces and accessories in the show's wardrobe. In the opening scene alone, there are seven costume changes, and 30 different designs. ?╟≤ The stage in the Tiffany Theatre measures 55 feet across, 26 feet high, and 9200 square feet in area. ?╟≤ The Folies Bergere showcase is illuminated by over 600 theatrical lights, including 3 main spotlights, a massive section of overhead spotlights, banks of colored highlight beams and tracks of high-intensity lamps. Many of the lighting effects, such as the syncronized light curtain, are programmed by computer and monitored by special electricians. This light curtain was the first computerized board of its kind in Las Vegas and cost over $250,000! ?╟≤ The Tropicana's "Folies" is the only production show in the United States that conducts nationwide "searches" for new faces and figures ?╟÷ the most publicized being the search for the Ultimate Showgirl. ?╟≤ The set designs, costumes, staging and creation of the all new "Folies Bergere" is valued at over $5 million dollars! The longest run for any single production revue or edition in Las Vegas is held by the former "Folies Bergere" production that recently closed, August, 1983. That particular edition ran for a period of IVi years! The record run for any single performer in one show in Las Vegas is held by former "Folies" premier showgirl, Felecia Atkins. Feleciawas in the "Folies Bergere" for a whopping ISVi years. ?╟≤ There are 1,700,000 watts of electrical power in the "Folies". The light curtain consists of 13,000 miniature bulbs, and the backdrop of Paris is lit by 3,500 bulbs. In the introduction number of the '80's, the passing "chevrons" consist of 9,000 bulbs, requiring 600,000 watts of electrical power. ?╟≤ There are 62 different "pipes" or backdrops of scenery and props that are "flown" on and off stage with the help of over 52 "hemp house" cables measuring over 130 feet long per cable. Over 66,000 lbs., or 33 tons of sets are "stored" on these pipes above the theatre stage. ?╟≤ Over 10 million people have seen the Tropicana's "Folies" since its initial opening in Las Vegas in 1959.
