Adjournment SENATOR VALERA MOVES TO ADJOURN AT 7:51PM SENATOR WONG SECONDS 22-0-0 This meeting has been posted in accordance with NRS 241.020 on the third floor of the Student Union, the seventh floor of the FDH, BEH, CSUN annex in the CBC, and also posted on-line at www.UNLVCSUN.com Attachment 37.01.01 The CSUN Code of Conduct (Revised November 2006) This document is the standard and rule for conduct in and around the Student Government (CSUN) offices while CSUN representatives hold their positions, and while these persons are on CSUN and university business and property. The following guidelines are to be applied to the behavior of those persons employed by or otherwise representing CSUN and the university. CSUN personnel should follow all facility and university standards and codes of conduct, as we share this space with all faculty, staff, and students at all times. Members of CSUN Student Government are expected to conduct themselves according to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Student Conduct Code and Policies, in and out of the CSUN offices and annexes. It is our hope that each member of CSUN can and will conduct themselves in a manner that is reflective of the position they hold. A CSUN employee shall hereafter be defined as any person who is currently receiving a stipend, salary, hourly wage, or fee waiver from CSUN, or who actively participates or volunteers for any entity of CSUN Student Government. CSUN Employee Responsibilities: The following acts are prohibited. Impeachment or removal from office could be the result should the CSUN employee fail to abide by the following: Interference to the rights and freedoms of others, including but not limited to: 1. Assaulting, striking or harassing or threatening another CSUN student, employee, or officer. 2. Any action of a sexual nature or involving sexual activities that are intimidating, demeaning, coercive, or violate the privacy of another CSUN employee or student. Further discussed in the Sexual Harassment Policy of UNLV. 3. Trespassing a. Defined as entering or occupying CSUN offices or annexes without authorized permission, whether or not entry was gained by force. 4. Wrongful utilization of CSUN goods, money, services, or property. 5. Forging, altering, or misusing University or public record documents. a. Included but not limited to minutes, agenda, official documents of CSUN. 6. Unauthorized use of a computer system, authorization codes, or restricted data for personal or CSUN use or failing to abide by the CSUN Computer Use Policy. 7. The persistent use of foul language in a public or office setting after others have respectfully asked and documented that you refrain. a. Foul language will be defined as something beyond the general bounds of good taste and discretion or that is offensive to another member or employee of CSUN. 8. Destruction or vandalism of personal or public property or usage with the intent to destroy. 9. The Senate reserves the rights to impose further limitations on themselves through the Rules. CSUN Employee Obligations: It is the obligation of any CSUN official, elected or otherwise, to act and react with their constituency in mind at all times. Voting or representing other groups, organizations or individuals not affiliated with an official's constituency is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. It is necessary to remain unbiased and unaffiliated with organizations outside of one's constituency when acting in a CSUN capacity (i.e. committee and board meetings, appointments, voting, contractual agreements etc.) CSUN Property: CSUN property includes but is not limited to: the main CSUN office in the Student Union, the CBC Annex, and the storage areas. The CSUN offices and annexes are under the sole control of the Student Body President. The chambers are a work and meeting space for all CSUN employees. Priority of the Chambers will be given to CSUN Committee's or Board Meetings and CSUN student legal services. The CSUN carts are to be used by CSUN officials for CSUN business use only. Any CSUN employee using the carts for personal use and/or driving recklessly will relinquish their right to use the carts. The keys to the carts will be in the possession of the Student Body President or his/her designee. All CSUN employees must abide by the CSUN Cart Policy. CSUN employees that do not act in accordance with the CSUN Cart Policy will be subject to the ramifications as stated in the CSUN Cart Policy. All CSUN employees must go through both written and driven cart training tests. CSUN owned/leased computers in the CSUN offices are to be used by CSUN employees only. Priority of these computers will be given to CSUN business, and there after on a first come first serve basis. CSUN employees must abide by the CSUN Computer Use Policy. The CSUN copy machine is to be used for CSUN business only. Each CSUN employee (except the ones not receiving remuneration for their services) will be given a specific Personal Identification number (PIN) in order to track the number of copies they make. It is up to the CSUN Business Manger to monitor usage and abuse of the copy machine. Abuse of the copy machine will result in the loss of copying privileges. Guests: In order to remain productive, it is requested that each CSUN employee may be limited to no more than two (2) guest in the office at any given time for non-CSUN related business. It is the duty of the CSUN employee to make sure that all guests sign in before entering the CSUN offices. Please be respectful of the receptionists who are required to monitor incoming guests. Personal Property: Due to the limited space in the CSUN offices, CSUN employees do not have ample space to store personal belongings and non-CSUN materials. It is imperative that CSUN officials keep their workspace clear of clutter and debris to preserve the professional and atmosphere of the office. Anything on, around, or near the general vicinity of the Senate mailboxes, Senate Secretary, Senate President Pro-Tempore, Vice President Pro-Tempore or CSUN Directors desks, Executive Board or Business Manager's offices are to be recognized as that individual's property and to be treated as such. Rummaging, riffling, "borrowing" or (re)moving possessions that are not yours will not be tolerated. Any CSUN employee or guest of an employee caught stealing from the personal items of any other CSUN member or student will be subject to investigation by Rules and Ethics and barred from the CSUN office. Consequences: Any violation or grievance regarding the CSUN Code of Conduct will be sent in writing to: • CSUN Student Body President • CSUN Student Body Vice President • CSUN Senate President • Chair of CSUN Rules and Ethics Committee The Rules and Ethics Committee will arrange a hearing in accordance with CSUN Bylaw 44. The CSUN Executive Board is ultimately responsible for upholding and enforcing this Code of Conduct for themselves and other CSUN employees. However, all members of CSUN are encouraged to hold themselves and their peers accountable for their actions.
