I. CALL TO ORDER SENATE PRESIDENT ROMERO called the meeting to order at 6:14p.m. II. ANNOUNCEMENTS DR. GUINN spoke asking the students to get involved. He told the Senate that the Legislative Packet is now ready for the coming two year period. He has met with the Alumni Association to give the same information. He believes that the most important thing for the University to do right now is pull together. There are a lot of things that the University needs but if we don't get in and become part of the biding process we will not get the funds we need. There is complete agreement on the packet from every college President from Reno to the Community Colleges to the Medical School and the Chancellors Office. It bothers him greatly that he goes to the language lab and they do not have the technology that the high schools have, and that is just one example. This University needs to build its own credibility just like he had to build his. Students need to be there to give the goals of the students, and Student Government is the governing body of the students. We have already agreed on the amount and what our share will be. Take a position on this campus and pull together and reinstate the forum so that this campus has a voice again. Also be willing to get the salaries for employees increased, they have not had a pay increase in two years. We are asking for a $40,000.00 one time equipment budget because equipment has not been updated like it should have been over the years. Reno and all the Community Colleges are coming with us and the Student Senate and the rest of the University needs to pull together and give support because if we don't get money the loss is equally distributed to all schools. Another issue is how to get time on channel 4 the student television station. He closed by stating that its not as bad as the lowest thing, there was a tremendous short fall last year with a short fall of ten and a half million dollars. There are 60 less professors than last year but 67 more sections offered. With the help of the Student Senate and The Student Alumni we can get this done. Think up some good questions and he will be back to answer them and ask for their help again. III.
