CSUN IS PUSHING FOR A DESIGNATION BY GPA ONLY. IS DEVELOPING A PROPOSAL TO UNRUE. BRANDIHOFFMAN THERE WAS A GOOD TURNOUT AT HEALTH AWARENESS DAY. THANKS TO THE VOLUNTEERS. OCTOBER 30TH WILL BE A BLOOD DRIVE; GO BLEED! PRESIDENT BUNIN (E&P) LILLIAN AND LISA ARE AT WORK OR CLASS, SO COULDN'T BE HERE. SIN-BAD WAS A BIG HIT. TOMORROW TOMMYROCKER WILL PERFORM. NOMINATION/APPROVAL OF SENATOR OF THE YEAR FOR SENATE SESSION 19. SENATOR COZINE NOMINATED SENATOR ZIELINSKI. SENATOR WILCOX NOMINATED SENATOR ROSENBERG. MOTION BY PRESIDENT BUNIN TO CLOSE NOMINATIONS. SECONDED BY SENATOR BAUHS MOTION PASSES 17-0-0. MOTION BY SENATOR BENNEMAN TO HOLD AND ELECTION WITH THE HIGHEST VOTE GETTER RECEIVING THE AWARD. SECONDED BY SENATOR COZINE. MOTION PASSES 17-0-0. THERE WAS A CALL FOR ROLL CALL VOTE. SENATOR ROSENBERG RECEIVED 5 VOTES. THERE WERE 3 ABSTENTIONS. B. JOKE/MAGIC TRICK ALL OF THE SENATORS TOLD A JOKE, SO DID THE EXECUTIVE BOARD. SENATE PRESIDENT POLOVINA HANDED OUT CERTIFICATES AND PLAQUES TO THE SENATORS. VIII.OPEN DISCUSSION COLEBROOK MENTIONED THAT HE APPRECIATES SUPPORTING THE EXECUTIVE BOARD DURING THE YEAR. LOOKS FORWARD TO WORKING WITH AS MANY PEOPLE IN THE ROOM AS POSSIBLE. OZKAN AS 'GUEST' SENATOR, HE MENTIONED THAT THINGS HAVE REALLY CHANGES IN CSUN. THERE ARE LESS ARGUMENTS AT EACH MEETING. SAID ITS IMPORTANT TO ARGUE TO THE BITTER END, YET REMAIN FRIENDS OUTSIDE THE ROOM. WISHED THOSE RETURNING A GOOD SESSION. WILCOX IT IS OVER FOR SOME OF 'US'. LEAVING FOR THE SEMESTER ON A CRUISE. MEN-TIONED THAT A LARGE NUMBER OF SENATORS WOULD NOT BE RETURNING. THINGS ARE GROWING. MENTIONED THAT HE ENJOYS DEBATING. AN-NOUNCED THAT HE AND MELANIE ARE STILL WAITING FOR WORK FROM CAESARS. INVITED ALL TO THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, FRIDAY NIGHT. DEMARS CONGRATULATED SENATOR ZIELINSKI. A YEAR AGO DECIDED TO RUN FOR SENATE AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. GOOD LUCK TO ALL ESPE-CIALLY RODERICK. SEE YOU ALL AGAIN. SWANK MENTIONED THAT HE IS GLAD TO BE A PART OF CSUN. HE IS HAPPY TO BE COMING BACK FOR ANOTHER ACTIVE YEAR. BENNEMAN MENTIONED THAT HE BECAME ACQUAINTED WITH THE SENATE TWO WEEKDS FROM A YEAR AGO TODAY WHILE DEFENDING HIS FRATERNITY. SOON AFTER HE WAS APPOINTED. IT HAS BEEN A LEARNING EXPERIENCE. CONGRATULATED SENATOR ZIELINSKI. HATE TO SEE SOME OF THE SENATORS LEAVING. POINTED OUT THAT ALL ISSUES STAY IN THE SENATE ROOM. WE LIVE IN A FREE COUNTRY WHERE WE MUST RESPECT OTHERS' OPINIONS. HE LOVES AND RESPECTS ALL OF HIS FELLOW SENATORS. KERSHAW CONGRATULATED SENATOR ZIELINSKI. SENATE HAS GROWN IN LAST YEAR. WILL MISS ALL WHO ARE LEAVING. LOOKING FORWARD TO ANOTHER INTERESTING YEAR. THOSE THAT ARE LEAVING SHOULD COME AROUND. MISS YOU ALL. VICE PRESIDENT PRO-TEMPORE FOUNTAIN LIKE JEFF SHE IS PROUD OF THE ENGINEERING COLLEGE. SHE MEN-TIONED THAT SHE WILL BE AROUND MORE NEXT SEMESTER FOR CSUN. CON-GRATULATED THOSE WHO WON AND SERVED. VICE PRESIDENT ENGEL MENTIONED THAT HER FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THE SENATE WAS HOMECOMING OF LAST YEAR. SHE WILL MISS THOSE THAT ARE LEAVING. PRESIDENT BUNIN CONRATULATED SENATOR ZIELINSKI, SHE DESERVED IT. SORRY TO SEE THOSE LEAVING AND LOOKING FORWARD TO WORKING WITH ALL OF THE NEW SENATE. REMINDED THE SENATE THAT DEBATES ARE FOR A GOOD CAUSE. CSUN IS DOING WELL THIS YEAR. MENTIONED THAT NEXT YEAR IAC WILL BE CATEGORIZING SEATING INSTEAD OF RANDOMLY PICKING STUDENT SEATING. SENATE MINUTES 19-35 10-26-89 PAGE 7 SENATE PRESIDENT PRO-TEMPORE COZINE MENTIONED THAT THE SENATE HAS GROWN SINCE SHE WAS APPOINTED IN 1987 UNDER STEVE EVINSON. THE SENATE KNOWS PARLIAMENTARY PROCUDRE MUCH BETTER AND OPERATES LIKE A SENATE SHOULD. DISAP-POINTED TO SEE THOSE GOING. ASKED THOSE WHO WERE LEAVING TO STICK AROUND AND INFORM US OF ANY PROBLEMS. MENTIONED THAT GINA IS DOING A GREAT JOB AND IS GLAD TO BE HERE. SENATE PRESIDENT POLO VINA CONGRATULATED SENATOR ZIELINSKI AS SENATOR OF THE YEAR. SORRY TO SEE SOME SHARP PEOPLE LEAVING THE SENATE; ALMOST 1/3 OF THE SENATE IS LEAVING. THOSE THAT ARE STAYING ARE GOING TO HAVE TO HELP MOLD THE NEW MINDS AND AS THE NEW LEADERS OF THE SENATE THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE AND TAKE THINGS SERIOUSLY TO GUIDE THE SENATE TO BE EFFECTIVE. THOSE THAT ARE LEAVING STAY AROUND TO SUPPORT AND TALK UP CSUN AROUND CAMPUS. HOPES SENATORS LIKE THEIR PLAQUES. APPRECIATE EVERYONE HELP. MISS YOU GUYS. OSI CO-DIRECTOR TYRONE SMITH WHEN FIRST RETURNED TO SCHOOL CAME IN AND DISRUPTED CSUN BUT SINCE BEING APPOINTED HAS GOTTEN TO KNOW MANY OF SENATORS. ASKED THOSE LEAVING TO STAY IN TOUCH SINCE THEY WILL BE MORE IN TOUCH WITH THE CAMPUS. GOOD LUCK TO THOSE WHO ARE GRADUATING AND TO THE NEW SENATE.
