The first vineyards were cleared by Chinese coolies, who were then in California building the great railroads.
Elevation of vineyards is 1600 to 2600 feet on top of the Santa Cruz Mountains; there-fore, all wines are “Mountain Grown.” If there is fog in the Santa Clara Valley, it doesn’t reach as high as the vineyards, which enjoy the maximum sunshine.
The vineyards are exclusively planted with the varietal grapes, white: Pinot Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Semillon, Folle Blanche, Johannisberg Riesling. In red grapes: Carignane, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay Beaujolais, Pinot Noir and in pink grapes: Aramon, Gamay and Grenache..
Grapes which have been proved, over almost a century to be most suitable for champagne making are grown in special vineyards on the Estate, like Pinot Blanc, Riesling.
Since 1876, and until today, Paul Masson has received numerous Gold Medals and diplomas in France, Belgium, and the United States. At the Golden Gate Exposition in 1939 Paul Masson was the only vintner to receive two gold medals for champagne.
In 1949, ‘50, ‘51, ‘52, ‘53, and ‘54 Paul Masson received consecutively the Gold Medal or highest awards for champagne at the Los Angeles County Fair, or at the Sacramento State Fair.
Paul Masson runs three wineries - the original winery 1600 feet high, near Saratoga, amidst the vineyards, the champagne vaults in Cupertino, 5 miles away, and the Mountain View Winery, near Cupertino.

PAUL MASSON
Authentic Mexican Food
905 North Fifth Street
Across from Cashman Field
Las Vegas, Nevada
