I agree.men000925_Chicago and Alton Railroad, menu, page 2

“Now good digestion wait on appetite,
And health on both.” - Macbeth.

An interesting matter for those who patronize
THE
CHICAGO & ALTON R.R.

(From the CHICAGO NEWS LETTER, March 1, 1884.)
THE LATEST.
THE CHICAGO & ALTON RAILROAD ever on the alert for the comfort and
well-being of its passengers has added another to the many comforts which
people already meet with on its line. The latest idea is a Train Lunch
which is served to those who cannot afford high-priced meals. These
lunches are served by colored waiters employed by the Company, and the
bill of fare they carry covers everything needful at a price which will enable
everybody on the train to take ample care of the inner man. The ALTON
is the progressive line of America and the people who have charge of its
affairs seem determined to keep the lead in all matter which effect the well-
being of the passengers.

These Lunches are now served under the immediate supervision of the
Superintendent of Dining Cars and have been made a special feature of our
road. For the present they will be served on Night Trains in both directions
between Chicago and St. Louis, and on Denver Express Trains in both
directions between Chicago and Kansas City.

Passengers will please report any inattention or incivility on the part of waiters to
M.L.
