Thanksgiving Proclamation.

State of Colorado.
Executive Department.

We have again reached those autumnal days in which our ancestors for many generations have been accustomed to observe a day of thanksgiving and praise for the manifold mercies and blessings which have been enjoyed during the year.
We have, as a State, enjoyed great prosperity. We have been spared all great afflictions and calamities and have every reason to be grateful to Almighty God for the many evidences of His divine favor.
In recognition of His goodness to us as a people I, Frederick W. Pitkin, Governor of Colorado, do hereby designate and appoint

Thursday, November 30, 1882,

as a day of Thanksgiving, and I recommend its general observance by the suspension of all business, by religious services in the churches of all denominations and by the customary family reunions and holiday festivities.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the State to be affixed at the State Capitol, in the city of Denver, this 13th day of November, A.D. 1882.

Frederick W. Pitkin,
Governor.

Seal. By the Governor.

N. H. Meldrum,
Secretary of State.
