139-CNew York City, January 23, 1905.Dr. J.K.W. Bracken,Las Vegas, Lincoln Co.,Nevada. Dear Sir:-I beg to acknowledge receipt of your valued favor of the 19th, contents carefully noted. I note McW illiams, having secured some land in section 27 west of Las Vegas Ranch on which he has laid out a town-site, is selling lots and has also petitioned the Lincoln County commissioners to incorporate his town under the name of Las Vegas, and note you have made every effort to have action delayed by the commissioners and believe so far you have been successful.I also note they are petitioning to have the postoffice moved to his town-site and that you have written my brother asking him to take it up with the Postoffice Department and that you also think it might be well, while the matter is being agitated , to have the postoffice moved to a site near our depot. I am very glad indeed to get all this information, but I do not think it would be well to move the postoffice just at present as there is no building on our townsite, or near the depot, that can be occupied, and I believe with the influence we have in Wash-ington, that we could keep it where it is until our townsite is laid out and the plat filed, and I trust you will make every effort and use your own influence and all that you can secure with the County Commissioners to prevent McWilliams from filing a plat under
