60-A J.T. McWILLIAMS. CIVIL ENGINEER, U.S. MINERAL SURVEYOR. GOOD SPRINGS, LINCOLN, CO. NEVADA. November 9, 1902. Mr. J. Ross Clark [Pres?] Empire Construction Co. Los Angeles, Cal. Dear Sir I met your Mr. McDermott here last evening and had quite an extended conversation in reference to your propsed purchase of the Las Vegas ranch, cattle, etc. and to whom I imparted information in reference to land lines and corners of Public Land survey that partly cleared up some questions that were bothering him. He now proposes having me survey the corners of the tract. To do this leggaly and officially it will be necessary for me to have a certified copy of field notes of original survey, and these I sent for by this mail to office of U.S. Survey General at Reno, Nevada. (For your approval)- We both thought it would be a good idea at the present time to also note the location, area and crop raised on each field. Also measure the volume of water flowing from the springs. The extra cost of this latter work over cost of surveying the boundary lines of ranch will be slight in comparison to sending a man specially from salt Lake or Los Angeles. We thought the information would assist you materially in issuing orders to whomever you should see fit to place in charge. Yours truly, J.T. MsWilliams
