SAN PEDRO, LOS ANGELES SALT LAKE. Office of General Attorney.T. E. GIBBON,General Counsel. C. O. WHITTEMORE, 2.General Attorney.Salt Lake City, Utah, for them. I will enclose you a sketch and description so you can see where it is located. I suggested to Mrs. Stewart that we rewrite the deed here or send you the description and have you do so and return it, but she is not willing to trust the matter to anybody, so I presume she will go on to Salt Lake about the time we count the cattle and have the deed fixed up then. She tells me she has paid all the money to the State for the land and as yet only received one Treasurer's receipt but expects the others soon, and while the contract says we are not to pay the money until the patents issue, she wants to know if the Treasurer's receipt would be sufficient, if not she may have to wait sometime, and in the meantime we will all have to wait and things here are apt to be neglected.I will leave here in the morning with Clippinger for Good Springs, Sandy and Searchlight, and expect to return about the 14th. I will then let Clippinger take the team and go back to Bunkerville without me and I will await further instructions here. I will say I have not received a message from you or anyone in the office since being here, but presume there is some delay with mail sent this way. I would like some instructions as to what I should do or say in case we fail to find 500 head of cattle, as I now believe we will. At least I should ask that the 50 head reserved should not be given to them. The horses are of but small value, mostly small or broken down, and those on the range are like all wild horses. Now, I would not think for a moment of keeping any of the Stewarts on the place to look after it, and it is not necessary at all I would choose some good reliable man with or without a wife.
