TRANSLATION. July 18, 1922. Fred E. Pettit, Jr., Las Vegas, Nevada. Brada states that since U.S Marshal has arrived Las Vegas and served injunction papers the Sheriff and representative of the Governor claim that they are relieved of responsibility and intend to wash their hands of all further control. Please advise quick the effect of the service of injunction papers and attitude of sheriff and state representative. If Brada statement is true call attention of state and county officials to the fact that injunction proceedings are mere civil action brought by company to assist in maintaining peace and not as substitute for duties and responsibilities of state officials to maintain peace and prevent lawless acts. Advise also if you think pressure should be brought upon them through Governor to continue their efforts to protect company's property and employees. H-271. A.S. Halsted
