Abstract

UNLV Libraries Collection of UNLV Campus Architectural Drawings and Photographs (1959-2006) is comprised of drawings and photographs of the UNLV main campus on Maryland Parkway and its constituent buildings. The collection also includes one CAD drawing of UNLV's campus, and architectural plans for the proposed College of Architecture building. The collection also includes proposed renderings of campus buildings including Frank and Estella Beam Hall, Artemus W. Ham Hall, and the Richard Tam Alumni Center.

Biographical / Historical Note

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is a public research university located in Las Vegas, Nevada. UNLV was officially founded in 1954 as the Southern Division of the University of Nevada. The first building constructed on campus was Maude Frazier Hall, which was completed in 1957. Prior to its construction, courses were held in classrooms of Las Vegas High School. As of December 2019, UNLV operates in 128 buildings on several campuses located throughout Las Vegas, Nevada.

Materials were transferred to the University Libraries periodically; accession number 2019-152, 2022-097.

Processing Note

In 2019, as part of an archival backlog elimination project, Joseph Puentes rehoused and arranged materials, wrote the finding aid, and entered the data into ArchivesSpace. In 2020, Jimmy Chang added additional materials to the collection. In 2022, Tammi Kim transferred files off of one optical disc and added the description to the finding aid. No access copies were created. In 2022, Sarah Jones added 6 rolls of architectural plans.
