The E.P. Carville Scrapbook (1941) compiled by former Nevada Assemblyman H.E. Hazard documents Carville's governorship of Nevada. It contains articles from a number of Nevada newspapers on topics including the Rio Tinto mine strike, mining, gasoline and liquor taxes, Civil Defense activities, and other issues of importance in 1941.

Biographical / Historical Note
Edward Peter Carville, the eighteenth governor of Nevada, was born in Mound Valley, Nevada, on May 14, 1885. He attended Notre Dame University, and earned a law degree in 1909. After admission to the bar, Carville established a legal practice in Elko, Nevada. After serving as deputy district attorney from 1910 to 1911, he became the district attorney of Elko County, from 1912 to 1918. He also served as the district judge of Elko County from 1928 to 1934, as well as the U.S. attorney of Nevada from 1934 to 1938. In November 1938 Carville received the Democratic gubernatorial nomination and Nevada voters elected him governor. In 1942 he was reelected to a second term. Carville resigned as governor on July 24, 1945, when he was appointed to the U.S. Senate, a position he held until January 3, 1947. After leaving the Senate he practiced law in Reno, Nevada. Governor Edward P. Carville died on June 27, 1956, and was interred at the Nevada Memorial Park Mausoleum in Reno, Nevada.
