Biographical / Historical Note

The Credit Professionals of Las Vegas, Nevada originated with the Credit Women's Breakfast Club of Las Vegas (CWBC), a local Nevada division of the Credit Women's International Club (CWI) and part of the Credit Professionals regional Golden West Council District 11. The CWBC was formally recognized as a new women's club at its charter dinner in 1953. The club was open to women working in all forms of the credit business. The goal of the Club was to increase credit volume sales while teaching women proper business place etiquette. Additionally, the club instructed credit professionals on how to provide and assist customers in responsible credit use. It also functioned as a committee to honor one supervisor of credit women each year. In the mid-1960s the Las Vegas CWBC changed its name to Credit Women's Club of Las Vegas, to correspond with their parent organization's name, Credit Women's International. The parent organization changed its name again in 1989 to Credit Professionals International (CPI) and the local Las Vegas division changed its name to Credit Professionals of Las Vegas, also in 1989.
