Abstract
The Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.), Las Vegas Chapter Records (1906-2001) consist primarily of scrapbooks, attendance and meeting minute record books, correspondence, and an accounting ledger from F.O.E. Aerie #1213 and its associated Women’s Auxiliary and Retired Eagles Activities Club (REAC) located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The scrapbooks contain newspaper articles, photographs, memorandums, and state and national F.O.E. convention information. The collection also contains REAC secretary documents including the club charter, constitution, and bylaws. The F.O.E. is an international non-profit fraternal organization.

Biographical / Historical Note
The Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) was founded in Seattle, Washington in 1898 when a group of theater owners gathered to determine how to handle an ongoing musicians' strike. The organization soon became influential in national politics, working to help create Mother's Day, Social Security, Medicare, the Jobs After 40 program, and more. In 1926, delegates at the annual convention formally approved the formation of a women's auxiliary. To date, the F.O.E. has nearly 800,000 members and more than 1,500 locations across the United States and Canada. The non-profit organization that donates to various charities, fundraisers, and local communities. Local chapters of the organization are referred to as aeries.
The F.O.E. Las Vegas Aerie #1213 was founded in 1905 and the Women’s Auxiliary #1213 was founded March 24, 1934. This chapter also has a Retired Eagles Activities Club (REAC) founded in 1984 for retired F.O.E. members aged 55 and older. The Las Vegas F.O.E. chapter organizes events for the local community, fundraises for local and national charities, and funds medical research for heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and diabetes.

Materials were received periodically; accession numbers 76-24, 1998-03, and 2002-16.
Processing Note
Material was initially inventoried by an UNLV Special Collections staff member. In 2014, as part of a legacy finding aid conversion project, Hannah Robinson wrote the collection description to bring it into compliance with current professional standards. Subsequently Hannah Robinson entered the data into ArchivesSpace. In 2018, as part of an archival backlog elimination project, Christina Lamoureux rehoused and rearranged the materials, revised the finding aid, and entered the data into ArchivesSpace.
