Biographical / Historical Note
Founded in 1900 the American Booksellers Association (ABA) promotes independent bookstores and literacy in the United States and Canada. One of the goals of the organization is to counterbalance the growth and influence of major publishing companies. Each year the ABA holds an annual convention which features book sales, discussions on the publishing industry, and sessions devoted to promoting literacy.
