If a photograph can take a moment and fill it with truth, this photo taken by my UNLV Special Collections colleague, captures the soul of Jerry Countess. Entitled "Missing Rachel," our colleague Aaron Mayes works his magic to artistically capture Jerry remembering his wife.

This photo is honored in the January issue of Photo District News as a submission for the Faces Portrait Photography Contest.

Congratulations Aaron! And Happy Birthday Jerry who turns 96 on December 22.

Jerry's oral history is part of the Southern Nevada Jewish Heritage Project.
