The Jim and Effie Spicer Papers (1979-1982) contain two chapters from the book The History of Pahrump Valley, which talks about the Spicers, newspaper clippings, and a transcribed copy of the diary of Jim Milligan, a miner from Nye County, Nevada.
Long-time Pahrump Valley residents Jim and Effie Spicer were owners of the Boiling Pot Outfit Ranch, located eight miles north of Beatty, Nevada. The ranch was involved in mining, selling industrial supplies and raising cattle. The Spicers were well informed about Nevada's political matters and were active in civic and charitable affairs.
