Additional Description
The Nevada Official Bicentennial Book Collection (1975) contains materials related to the editing and publication of the book by the Nevada American Revolution Bicentennial Committee. It includes article submissions about Nevada history as well as a small amount of correspondence to Stanley Paher, the editor of the book. The final copy of the book is available in UNLV Special Collections and Archives.
The Nevada American Revolution Bicentennial Committee sponsored a range of programs and events in Nevada to commemorate the bicentennial of the United States in 1976, including minting a souvenir coin in Carson City, Nevada. They also solicited article submissions for a book celebrating Nevada's history. The committee hired Thomas C. Elgas, a Las Vegas public relations professional, to coordinate the publication and Stanley Paher, to serve as editor. The book contained over 250 stories with advertisements from local business to support the publication of the book.
Materials remain in original order.
