PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION OF NEVADA August 2, 1949 Las Vegas Land & Water Company Las Vegas Nevada Attention: Mr. Al Folger Gentlemen: Attached herewith is a copy of Commissioner Williams' report, dated July 23, of his investigation of water shortage in Las Vegas conducted at request of several residents of Las Vegas. In the fifth paragraph of his report Mr. Williams states that your company expected to install an additional and larger main near Mr. Hobart's home at 13th and Stewart Streets. Pressure valves have been ordered for installation on east Charleston so as to maintain pressure in Huntridge subdivision. Your company also plans on drilling two wells in the second artesian zone before the 1950 peak season. Complaints received subsequent to Commissioner Williams' report would indicate a serious water shortage existed in many sections of Las Vegas, other than those mentioned by you in your talk with our representative, and no suggestion was made by your company to correct the present situation in those districts except to drill two additional wells. We wish to call your attention to Mr. Williams' recommendations outlined in the last paragraph of his report, We would appreciate having a statement of intentions fron your company as to its plans to correct the present situation and to provide adequate water supply to the residents of Las Vegas during the 1950 summer months. Should the Commission consider your proposal inadequate we will Set the matter down for formal hearing to be held in Las Vegas sometime during the next two months. Very truly yours, s/ J. G. ALLARD Chairman JGA/1 enc.
