    Dear Friend:-
    line 5
I am in close quarters to-night for
    line 6
Mrs. McBride is at one side of me, knitting
    line 7
and Annie is at the other, writting. Still
    line 8
I have elbow room so I will endeavor
    line 9
to write you a few lines.
    line 10
    Your welcome and interesting
    line 11
letter was gladly received several days
    line 12
ago. As I took it from the envelope and
    line 13
saw the blank leaf, my first thought
    line 14
was that it had been intended for
    line 15
    an April-fool. "Guilty conscience

needs no accusing," they say. However,
    line 2
I was happily surprised to discover my
    line 3
    mistake.
    line 4
    School closed Thursday at noon
    line 5
for conference vacation. I could not
    line 6
attend conference for I had too much an to do. We spent that afternoon washing d yesterday I put in the whole day drawing. In physiology, we have to draw every figure in the text, and each member is required to make a special map, for the library, besides. Then each member of the astronomy class has to make a map for the library every week. I was working at my special drawing nearly all day but I am quite well satisfied with it, and am glad it is done, seeing it had to be made. It
seems like wasting time to me for it dosen’t learn me anything. To-day I have been studying, and writting another composition. We will not have Sunday school in the Academy in the morning, so I am going to study again, go to church, and in the evening we are going out to supper. Miss Stella Jakis has invited us to take supper with her. She is not a student now, but she is a lovely girl. I wish you could have met her while you were here and I think you would have formed the

    same opinion.
Last week Grammar A challenged Rhetoric A for a contest in oral composition. We accepted the challenge, and the contest will be between ten members from each class
and will be given in room D. Tuesday evening. Prof. Nelson talks of giving a recital, or an entertainment the last week of school. He will choose ten members of his elocution class to assiq, him. We are just going to have a fine time the last week of school.
No studying. Just commencement exercises all the week. But there is so much work to be done before then, besides examinations. I just wish you could be here the last week and find out what kind of people we are, but of course, that will not be possible as your school will not be out. What
date will it close? If I ever knew I have forgotten.
There are only four students in the graduating class this year.

Prof. Cluff told us the other day that, all who had entered on their course could complete it in four years, but all who enter after this will be required to take six years before degrees will be centered.
You seem, still, to be undecided as to what you will do when vacation comes. I was greatly surprised to hear of Aggie so picturing the future to you. When I think about it, I remember
you told me you would go home with me when school closed, and
I thought you meant it, but I suppose you did not.
No, I haven't thought, and do not infer, that you have forgotten home or relatives, or anything of the kind, but have j
have believed that you / stayea away because you think it for the best. In fact you could not do otherwise and attend school, only during vacation.
One thing, I am sure your are not as foolish as I am (if such you would term it), or you couldn't stay away from home when you could

possibly, get there without spoiling all the plans you had made.
However, I hope you will go home this summer. I believe you will live just as long if you do, don’t you?
The folks failed to send me Harry's address. They must have forgotten it. I received a letter from Chrissie Whitney last evening and she said that Harry and Ed were out on tthe ranch.
Clara tells me of a genuine surprise party some of the folks gave Pa and Ma a while ago. About thirty besides relatives, went there with baskets of good things, and marched in while the folks were at supper. Clara an<3. Lee knew all about it. They had hot supper and with two tables the length of the dining room all were not accomidated. They stayed until two o'clock in the morning and just had a fine time

    now.

    3
Oh, about the photo! Well, I
    line
    4
cannot say that I count you one of
    line
    5
my school-mates, though one of my dear
    line
    6
friends. Yes, I should think two
    line
    7
would be enough of the kind. I have
    line
    8
promised every one, but will just break
    line
    9
one promise and send you one, if
    line
    10
you will agree to destroy the first
    line
    11
I gave you. I would just like to
    line
    12
get my hands on it once, and then
    line
    13
I would settle it. I told Annie you
    line
    14
had quoted her story, and then we
    line
    15
Written across top of page 8 both tried, and
    line

    tried to think
    line
    2
    of the rest.
    line
    3
    Finally we did
    line
    4
    and had a great
    line
    5
    laugh over it.
    line
    6
    She thinks you
    line
    7
    have a wonderful
    line
    8
    memory.
    line
    9
    Really I will stop

    10
    writting now. So

    11
    I will say good-
