Abstract
The Margot Mink Colbert Papers (approximately 1959-2018) are comprised of materials that represent Colbert's career as a professional dancer, choreographer, and instructor. The materials span Colbert's career as a dancer in New York City at The Juilliard School, instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The materials in this collection also document Colbert's teaching career as well as her professional studio Ballet Mink. The materials include press and promotional materials about performances choreographed by Colbert within the United States as well as other countries including Russia and Denmark. The collection also include recordings of Colbert's choreographed performances.

Biographical / Historical Note
Margot Mink Colbert (1935- ) is a ballet choreographer, teacher, and dancer in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was the assistant chair of the Department of Dance and Professor of Dance-Ballet at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). She is also the artistic director of Ballet Mink, a dance company she founded in 1970 in New York City, New York. After she graduated from the Juilliard School in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Ballet and Modern Dance Performance, Colbert taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1991 she was hired at UNLV as an assistant professor where she eventually attained status as an emeritus professor before retiring in 2017. Colbert and Ballet Mink have been recognized and supported by UNLV, the Nevada Arts Council, Cirque du Soleil Community Support Grants, the City of Las Vegas, and other arts organizations in the United States and Europe. In addition to her prominent work in the arts, Colbert is an active member of Congregation Ner Tamid in Las Vegas.

Acquisition Note
Materials were donated by Margot Mink Colbert in 2018 and 2021; accession numbers 2018-049, 2021-091. Additional materials were donated in 2022 by Roberta Sabbath and Cathy Allen on behalf of Margot Mink Colbert; accession numbers 2022-051 and 2022-057.
Processing Note
In 2020, Tammi Kim minimally processed the collection. Materials were reviewed to create brief box-level summaries. Files from three external hard drives were transferred during accessioning and but remain unprocessed. Some items in this collection are digital surrogates. In 2020, due to insurmountable preservation issues, Sarah Jones digitized select materials from the collection for preservation purposes and discarded the originals. In 2021, Tammi Kim minimally processed the 2021 addition and updated the finding aid. In 2023, Sarah Jones reboxed the 2022 accessions and updated the finding aid. No further work has been done on the collection material. Optical discs were not transferred due to likelihood of duplication per Aaron Mayes 2023-09-19. Files may be ingested upon specific request.
