Abstract
The Wengert Family Photographs (1890-1966) depict the lives of the Wengert family. In addition are materials focusing on day-to-day activities such as holiday celebrations, family milestones, and some Southern Nevada Power Company employees. Although there are chronological gaps in the materials, particularly in the early years of Cyril and Lottie’s lives, the images provide historical documentation of this Las Vegas family.

Biographical / Historical Note
Born in 1889, Cyril Wengert arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1907 as a teenager. Alongside his father, Frank, he worked as an ice wagon driver. In 1921, Wengert married Lottie Ward of Iowa and the couple had five children: Jimmie, Marilyn, Ward, Robert, and Shirley. As Las Vegas developed, Cyril Wengert achieved prominence with the Southern Nevada Power Company, where he worked until his death in 1966. The Wengert couple were involved in several Las Vegas civic organizations, including the American Legion, the Rotary Club, the Elks Lodge, and the Knights of Columbus. In 1971, Cyril S. Wengert Elementary School was named in honor of his commitment to community service in Las Vegas.
