Abstract
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Office of the President Records is comprised of documents used in daily matters of the Office of the President from approximately 1950 to 2007. The records in the collection document the expansion of the UNLV campus, and the academic and athletics programs offered by the university.

Scope and Contents Note
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Office of the President Records (approximately 1950-2007) detail the activities of administrative offices, colleges, departments, faculty, alumni, and students of the university. The records consists of correspondence with departments and organizations within the university as well as external organizations such as the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). Correspondence with governmental agencies, such as the National Science Foundation, the United States Department of Justice, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are also contained within the records. The records include financial documents, such as budget proposals and reports, salary proposals and reports, expense reports, donation and gift receipts, and financial ledgers. The records also include both program and physical expansion plans for the university as well as photographs, publications, newspaper clippings, statistical reports, and student surveys.

These records are unprocessed. Records in the University Archives are open to university officials, but are closed to public access until the records have been reviewed for protected information. Protected information includes: personally identifiable information, personal health information, student records, records regarding disciplinary procedures, records that compromise security or operations, legal communications, and legal work product. Inquiries for specific information will be considered by archival staff on a case-by-case basis.

Biographical / Historical Note
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas Office of the President has historically overseen campus developments, changes in curriculum, management of staff and faculty, and financial decisions. The Office of the President has also been responsible for maintaining meeting files and agendas of official duties, as well as maintaining local and regional public relations. Subordinate only to the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, the Office of the President consists of the university president and their cabinet.
