    Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Sharp, Whipple and Mayor Baker voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Bunker and Fountain. The Commission considered the application of Theodore Mendell for a Second Hand Dealers License at Mandell's, 212½ South 5th Street. Commissioner Sharp moved that in view of the unfavorable recommendation from the Police Department that the application of Theodore Mendell for a second hand dealers license at Mandell's, 212½ South 5th Street be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Sharp, Whipple and Mayor Baker voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Bunker and Fountain. Mayor Baker asked Mr. Mendell if he understood the reason for denial of his application. Mr. Mendell stated he did not know, and was advised to contact the City Manager for explanation tomorrow in his office. Commissioner Sharp moved the application of Earl Turmon for license for an additional "21" game at the Town Tavern, 600 Jackson Street be ap­proved and the Supervisor of License and Revenue authorized to issue the license. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Bunker and Fountain. Commissioner Whipple moved the following applications for additional gaming licenses be approved and the Supervisor of License and Revenue authorized to issue the licenses: BRIGHT SPOT Ray R. Davis 300 Stewart 1 slot EL CHARRO CAFE Glenn Sales 416 W. Bonanza 1 slot Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Bunker and Fountain. Commissioner Whipple moved the minutes of August 27 and September 4, 1957 be approved by reference and the Mayor and Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Bunker and Fountain. Commissioner Sharp moved that Service and Material Warrants Nos. 13489 through 13607 in the total amount of $124,663.77 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Bunker and Fountain. Commissioner Whipple moved that Payroll Warrants Nos. 13311 through 13856 in the net amount of $74,855.83 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Bunker and Fountain. Commissioner Sharp moved the request of the City Attorney Howard W. Cannon to attend the convention of the National Institute of Municipal Law Officers in Richmond, Virginia October 6th through October 9th, 1957 be approved, and expenses of $500.00 authorized. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Bunker and Fountain. Due to the fact that Commissioners Bunker and Fountain, committee for re­port on the proposed extension of the Tavern Zone on South Main Street were absent from the meeting, there was no report made. Commissioner Whipple, member of the committee for recommendation on the resolution of the Traffic and Parking Commission concerning the Vehicle and Traffic Code asked for additional time before reporting. Consideration was given to the claim of Wilma Freemyer for damages to her car on Washington Avenue at the intersection of Oasis Way on September 9, 1957 in the amount of $47.31.
