Los Angeles, Calif. 90014 (213) 626-4611 (Hank Brown) Los Angeles ?╟÷ A capacity crowd of almost 800 will be on hand for the Third Annual Sportsmen's World Awards presentations at Las Vegas' Sands Hotel on June 28. The event this year will honor eleven outstanding athletes of the past whose championship performances and exemplary personal conduct have served as an inspiration to people in all walks of life. Sponsored by the Sportsmen's Club for the City of Hope Medical Center, the gala will be hosted by popular radio and TV host Art Linkletter, assisted by special celebrity guest presenters and star entertainers. The show is being syndicated for national television by Metromedia Producers Corp. Proceeds go to support the City of Hope in furthering its programs of patient care, scientific research and medical education in the battle against catastrophic disease. The honorees, chosen by a blue ribbon National Selections Committee of sportswriters and sportscasters across the country, will be flown to Las Vegas by TWA, official carrier for the Sportsmen's World Awards. Honored this year will be: Sammy Baugh, football; Don Budge, tennis; Peter De Paolo, auto racing; Paul Endacott, basketball; Bob Feller, baseball; Dr. Sammy Lee, aquatics; Ted Lindsay, ice hockey; Rocky Marciano, boxing; Lloyd Mangrum, golf; Cornelius Warmerdam, track and field; and C.K.
