(LAUGH) GOLDIE: GOLDIE: The song I just sang was written by Randy Newman, a fine musician; and I would like to introduce some other fine musicians that are here tonight. My guitarist, Don Overberg; my drummer, Tommy Check. They are the key members of the rhythm section. Now they are sandwiched in between this side over here, and this side over there, and they make up the Joe Gersio Orchestra. Now, all this beautiful music is conducted by my conductor, Marvin Laird. (TWO BOYS BRING OUT OVERSTUFFED CHAIR) That big fanfare was for my chair. There is nothing better than a big, overstuffed chair. I remember there was a chair like this in our house when I was growing up. It was a big brown overstuffed chair. so much happened in that chair. The dog that I grew up with was born in that chair. I remember catching my older sister and her boyfriend cooing in that chair. The thing I remember most about that chair was watching my Dad watching television in it. I remember my mother holding me in that chair. "THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS" THERE ONCE WAS A TOWN WHERE A GIRL COULD HAVE A THERE WEREN'T ANY SUBWAYS AND THERE WASN'T ANY SMOG DOG
