Humane Society GAMING APPLICATIONS 3rd Quarter Additional LIQUOR APPLICATION 3rd Quarter Change of Owner Westside Tavern The Board having considered the decision of the Board of Adjustment denying this application; NOW, THEREFORE, it is the decision of this Board that the application of Katie and Louis Abrahams for a variance to construct and maintain an addition to within 6 feet of the front property line at 1919 Fremont be and the same is hereby approved subject to the receipt of a letter of approval from the State Highway Department. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp moved the request of Max Drucker for reduction of solicitors license be taken off the agenda. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time discussion was held on the request of Herman D. Page for reduction of solicitors license for delivery of bakery products. Thereafter Commissioner Whipple moved the license fee be reduced to $5.00 per quarter until October 1, 1954. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time an ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE MINIMUM PERMANENTLY MAINTAINED OFF-STREET PARKING ACCOMMODATIONS; PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, was read by title to the Board and referred to Commissioners Whipple and Bunker for study and recommendation. At this time Commissioners Jarrett and Whipple members of the Committee for study and recommendation on the proposed billboard ordinance requested additional time before reporting. At this time Commissioners Bunker and Whipple members of the committee for study and recommendation of the proposed traffic commission ordinance reported favorably . An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; PROVIDING FOR TEE APPOINTMENT OF THE MEMBERS THEREOF; PROVIDING FOR THE DUTIES OF SAID COMMISSION; AND PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO, was reas in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved the above entitled ordinance No. 616 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time Commissioner Bunker stated in reference to the proposed ordinance on off-street parking that the committee for study of this ordinance should hold a public hearing at which all concerned could be heard. Discussion was held and it was decided that Commissioners Bunker and Whipple would hold a public hearing on this proposed ordinance on off-street parking on August 25, 1954, at 7:39 P.M. in the Council Chambers. At this time Commissioners Jarrett and Sharp members of the committee for study and recommendation on the proposed Height Regulation Ordinance requested additional time. At this time Mr. K. O. Knudson representing the Clark County Humane Society appeared before the Board requesting renewal of the contract between the City and the Clark County Humane Society. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved the contract between the City and the Clark County Humane Society be renewed for one year in the same status as last year and the Mayor and Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved the following gaming applications for the 3rd quarter of 1954 be approved: FAMILY MARKET Glenn Sales 1109 Stewart 1 slot SUE'S LIQUOR STORE Tom Rolofson 1232 So. 5th 1 slot Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time discussion was held with Chief of Police, A. H. Kennedy, on the application of Dohn and Mildred Martin for a Restaurant Beverage License at the Westside Tavern 206 Wilson, formerly issued to C. H. Murray, Chief Kennedy stated that this building was not a restaurant, but was actually a bar. Thereafter Commissioner Whipple moved this application for a restaurant Beverage license at the Westside T vern, 206 Wilson be approved subject to the compliance with the ordinance pertaining to Restaurant Beverage Licenses. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. 7-21-54
