% At Chicago, 111, July-18th-1906, X X X X S r O D O C D C t , - / 7 7 Dear Mr. Clark : 1 arrived here on Saturday and on Sunday hy invitation of Mr. Stubbs met the Traffic Officials and Attorneys of their allied companies, and have discussed a great many questions which had been formulated by the Traffic Officials for answer by Attorneys, bearing upon the Inter-State Gommerce Act as amended. These discussions were continued Sunday, Monday and untill late yesterday afternoon, and were very valuable, I think, to everybody attending; I certainly found it ao. There is now in session a Committee of the Traffic Officials of the principal western lines, and also Committee composed of Attorneys of same lines, and the Traffic Committee will prepare questions to be answered by Committee of Attorneys. I have arranged to get full stenographic report of all these precedings, and I am sure we will find them very valuable in the solution of questions which may arise in the future. So far as I am able to ascertain from the expressions of the Traffic Officials there seems to be a universal desire of tttpr observing strictly the new Law. I am glad to see this, and as I explained to you some time ago, we have lots to gain and nothing to lose hy a strict observance of in all-of its phases. I am glad indeed I caiie as I feel tha discussions I have participated in, and will take part in while here, wliifc be of great value to me in the future.
