Martin Luther King Parade 1999 Presented by: Soror Lisa Russell December 5,1998
On January 17, 1998, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Theta Theta Omega Chapter participated in the 1998 MLK Parade and entered our float in the Best Greek Entry Competition. We received 2nd place for our theme of our float “Celebrating 90 years of Sisterhood”.
A float theme is needed for the 1999a MLK Parade. In addition, another collaboration between Theta Theta Omega Chapter and the Kappa Xi Chapter would ensure another successful and beautiful float!
A SUGGESTION is to have the Sorors of Kappa Xi and Theta Theta Omega perform a short step routine together for the Judges and parade watchers. The AKAteens are willing to do a “skit”, and other ideas are being discussed with the youth group. If you are open to the idea to do a SIMPLE ROUTINE for the judges, please let me know. A committee is needed to help with float preparations and ideas. Please see me if your are committed to work on this committee.
Parade Information
The starting location and time has not yet been assigned or released. Early indications suggest that the parade will begin at 10:00am. Final time and location will be provided at the January, 1999 general meeting.
Parade Expenses
The following is the estimated expenses for the 1999 parade. However, as the theme for the float will change, funds needed may increase:
Parade Registration Fee (1999):
Truck Rental:
Decorations:
$50.00
$90.00
$100 00
Estimated Expense: $240.00
J / 1 move that the sum of $240.00 will be made at the December, 1998 general meeting to cover 4—expenses for the 1999 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade.
Respectfully submitted by,
Soror Lisa Russell
